鳥居 洋介 / Yosuke Torii

1979年、愛知生まれ。東京在住。

国内外問わず数多くのアーティストのポートレート撮影を中心に幅広い媒体で活動。

2016年、ロンドンを拠点に活動する日本人4人組サイケデリックロックバンド「BO NINGEN」のUKでの日常生活やツアーに密着し

まとめあげた写真集「BO」を発表。

被写体(モノゴト)を90°の真正面から正直に捉えようとするいつもの彼のやり方は、

被写体自身(もちろん静止物だとしても)が試される体験であるのと同時に、

彼自身のコンプレックスを、被写体を通して真逆のベクトルにすり替えようとする実験のように見えます。

「鳥居 洋介」一個人としての理想の人間像を、ファインダーの中の被写体の表情と重ね合わせることで、

彼が彼自身と対面し、会話を交わすプロセスなのだとしたら、

それはとてもエゴイスティックでセルフィッシュな被写体との共同作業とも言えますが、

それこそが、アーティストとして何かをつくる上での根本的な姿勢だとも言えるのではないでしょうか。

 

His established approach to his subjects, trying to capture them head-on, is a perpendicular challenge to the subject, albeit a stationary one.  

Maybe Yosuke Torii is looking through the lens and trying to merge the image of the subject with his mind’s own personal vision of the human being

as it should be, his own ideal.

It could be his way of coming face to face with himself and to converse with his reflection – but surely this would be a travesty of the role of his subject,

a denial of their collaboration.  

Perhaps it is his experiment to concoct, in the laboratory of his camera , a potion which is the essence of all his complexities.
